CyRIC IoT to provide LoRaWAN connectivity for Limassol Water Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) deployment.

Protect Overview

CyRIC IoT, being part of a wide consortium under NewCyTech (Prime Contractor) which includes among others Cablenet, A4 and JANZ, has been assigned the provision of LoRaWAN connectivity for the deployment of more than 80,000 smart water meters in the district of Limassol, Cyprus.

The project kick-off took place on Wednesday 17th of July 2024.

CyRIC IoT Role

CyRIC IoT will expand its current LoRaWAN Public Network in Limassol to provide the required coverage for the project deployment. Moreover, CyRIC IoT will provide the project LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS) and the Network Performance Monitoring Platform.

Water AMR is one for the most demanding deployments as far as it concerns providing the required wireless coverage due to the water meters installation locations. Water meters are being deployed sometimes slightly underground or in small constructions with metallic doors. It requires, thus. a very detailed and analytic RF planning and a very dense wireless network with high redundancy.

CyRIC IoT does not start form zero, since it already has significant LoRaWAN coverage in the district of Limassol deriving from the past deployments of its Nationwide Public LoRaWAN Network.
